In honor of Rememberence Day we read a book called Rose Blanche .
We had to write a response to Rose.
We have also started a survivor research project !
We have to pick between 2 projects
#1: You have to pick a person and write a report on them and afterwards you would have to present to the class through posters or a Power Point.
#2: If you choose this project you have to use your creativity and write your own survivor story through a diary entry.
We have been working on our survivor masks. We are on our 3rd layer of paper - mache. We are also starting to read some stories about survivors. after we finish reading them we have to wright a response and do a work sheet on the story.
We have just started to paint!
We are done painting and hung our masks on the walls.
They look GREAT!!!
Check them out on this page.
Survivor
We started our ELA unit about survivors on October 10th. We will be learning about what it means to be a survivor while reading short stories and doing research projects on different survivors. We have also set our classroom up in "Survivor" teams based off of the TV show. Teams will accumulate points for rewards, but unlike the show no one will get voted off.
we have now stopped doing survivor so were done.
-We will be looking at two books in September.
- The first will be a read out loud called "The Golden Compass"by Phillip

Pullman. The reason this book was chosen was because it has been made into a movie that will come out December 7th. Hopefully the students will be able to see the difference between the written story and the story that we see on screen. If you are interested you can go and see the movie trailer.
- The second book will be "Crash" by Jerry Spinelli. The students will be
involved in ELA work around this book
we are now writing poems for a contest in the cbc.
We are writing newspaper articles about mysteries.
